Roman Holiday

In the midst of a whirlwind tour of European capitals, a young princess yearns to experience life – to explore the world beyond diplomatic dinners and Royal balls.

Enter an American reporter, who, almost overnight, goes from covering the royal family to covering up her great escape. In the span of 24 unforgettable hours, they discover the magic of Rome, the promise of love, and a secret they will share forever.

The stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning 1953 film features such Porter classics as Night and Day, Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye and Easy to Love.

A new UK production is being planned for Spring 2023, produced in association with Theatre Royal Bath, directed by Jeremy Sams.

Reviews

“TIMELESS… built with elegance and sophistication. What a dramatic accomplishment, to take the film’s story and add a trove of Porter songs that sound as if they were written intentionally for this show.”

Star-Tribune

“The physical production is indeed handsomely awash in Mediterranean colors, with attractive costumes and fluid set-pieces of faux stone and statuary. Alex Sanchez’s choreography stays within period, serving up the occasional midcentury MGM Gene Kelly-esque moment of romantic near-ballet or early-Fosse jazz.”

Variety

“The Cole Porter songbook enchants, seducing us with the magic of “Night and Day” and “Just One of Those Things.””

Mercury News

“ROMAN HOLIDAY was a popular hit with BroadwaySF’s subscription and group audiences. Single ticket buyers were drawn by the title and the promise of hearing incredible Cole Porter music. This show exceeds everyone’s expectations.”
