David Freeland
Senior Vice President, Booking & Engagement Management
David started in the theatrical booking field back in 1998, when he began working with his wonderful colleagues, Steven Schnepp and Temah Higgins (and, later, Kent McIngvale and Jenny Bates), at AWA Touring Services. Since then he has been involved with the booking and engagement management of many Broadway tours. One of his most valued experiences was helping take Les Miserables to China and Korea during the summer of 2002. A writer, journalist, and historian, David has authored the books Automats, Taxi Dances and Vaudeville: Excavating Manhattan’s Lost Places of Leisure and Ladies of Soul. He has appeared in an episode of the NBC TV show, “Who Do You Think You Are,” working with Rashida Jones, and also hosted and associate produced the short film, “The Original Swing Street” for PBS Thirteen. He holds an MA in Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University, and gives frequent lectures and walking tours related to NYC history and culture.
