ANN: An Affectionate Portrait of Ann Richards

Played two limited engagements in Chicago and Washington, DC in November 2011 through January 2011, with a total of 57 performances

ANN: An Affectionate Portrait of Ann Richards is a play with Emmy® Award-winning stage and screen actress Holland Taylor. A hilarious and touching evening of theater celebrating a beloved daughter of Texas, Taylor has expressed her hope ANN will “bring a magical touch to the past and the present, swirling them together as only the theatre can do, and leaving the audience with an enhanced sense not only of a person and a time, but of themselves.”

ANN began as the “project” of an ordinary fan, someone who had, like most people, happily admired the Governor from afar. But writing the play became a journey impossibly rich – a quest to understand what it was about this down-home and fun woman – housewife, mother, grandmother and Governor of Texas—that affected so many people so deeply.

“Ms. Taylor’s lively, funny, humane Ann Richards looks mighty formidable”

The New York Times

“a play about a famously funny woman who was also whip-smart and demanding, a dazzling but imperfect figure who overcame alcoholism and gender bias and all the obstacles that keep people from thinking they can achieve whatever it is they can.”

The Dallas Morning News

“wickedly engaging”
